First Things First
Adequate information empowers patient and family.
At the time of need, patient and family reach out for information. The information can be regarding any medical service or information about a condition. They lookout for reliable, simple to understand information.
However, patient's often tells us that finding reliable, impartial information can be quite difficult on vast place like internet.
Of course, there are resources available but it is often with a business intent behind it.
For a non medical person it is challenging to know if that information is trustworthy or not!
During my long stay in England I found out that the patient gets empowered with knowledge. In England we have plenty of hospitals which share high quality knowledge with the patient and family. They have dedicated team for this.
But in India such type of concept is still to become very popular. Good quality health information or its provision is costly. I always try to give the patient right amount of information so an educated patient can take her own decisions.
My patients feel happy as they are part of decision making.
My patients long requested me to develop a knowledge repository to answer questions about gynaecological oncology. They said, gynae oncology being a new specialty in India, information are sparse. This blog has been designed with that purpose in mind.
The line between complex gynaecology and gynae-oncology is very thin. So, you will find information about complex gynaecological problems apart from gynae-oncology issues.
You will also find some information about my work on this subjects. How I developed these services after returning from England. How, me and my team are working hard to keep these high quality services affordable to local population using indigenous techniques.
